The last 3 Open men’s and women’s events in QLD have been claimed by LifeTime players.
The first of the events was Samford Open with Tristan Stock winning the men’s and Tess Caldicott breaking through for her first open singles win. Both players had to beat players they had previously lost to before taking out the singles titles. Tess also backed up her singles win by winning the women’s doubles.
The second of the events was the Hervey Bay Open event. This was an event LifeTime supported as a tour with 18 players receiving support from LifeTime Tennis Brisbane West Head Coaches Marc and Brim. The LifeTime Team dominated the event with Tristan taking out the Open Men’s event. In the women’s event Emma Tran broke through for her first Open Women’s title defeating another LifeTime girl Jovana Petrovic in a very hard-fought final. LifeTime players also dominated in the open double’s events with winners and runners up in both women’s and men’s doubles events Tristan backing up to win the doubles with Angus Cook defeating Jacob Cropper and Alex Anderson in a tight final. In the women’s doubles Tess Caldicott and Jovana Petrovic went on to defeat Emma Tran and Caitlan Bourke in the final. Caitlan also so had her best singles result by getting through to the semi final.
In the Tennyson Classic Open event more success for Lifetime players. In the men’s final Tom Braithwaite from LifeTime Nth defeated one of our assistant coaches Rudy Thorogood in the men’s final. In the women’s final Helena Guan won her final comfortably after battling through her semi final winning the super tiebreak against Emma Tran. Helena and Lucy Quinlan were finalists in the women’s doubles event.
Head Coaches Marc Svenson and Graeme Brimblecombe commented on the depth of the players currently training in the LifeTime ProTennis Programs. Having 3 different girls win and 3 of the 4 semi finalists in the last 2 events, and 2 different boys claim 3 events in a row is quite an accomplishment. It talks volumes to the depths of our programs.
Both Head Coaches felt there was something coming with the players but didn’t expect this type of result.
We also have players participating in UTR pro events, upcoming ITF events, Pro Tour and National 12 and 14 ‘s.
Marc and Brim said,
“All of our players have been working particularly hard both for themselves and for each other over the past 2 terms. The culture and environment is very positive and connected at the moment. Its great to see players at tournament charting each other’s matches and giving feedback to other LifeTime team members.
The pleasing part for us is while our 16 plus year olds are performing well our 13 -15 year old players are also performing well just behind them.
Our coaching team has also been bolstered with Roger Tyzzer joining the team. Roger a former coach of Lleyton Hewitt and Alicia Molik brings more experience and a different perspective to our team. We really have a well-balanced team of experience and younger enthusiasm delivering our programs to players. This has resulted in more players tapping into more sessions weekly meaning the staff is spending more time than ever with players.
Its an exciting time for LifeTime. Our coaching team is continuously improving. Our players are working particularly hard and improving and the culture of our programs is the best we have had it in 20 years.
